Raw And Refined ~ Sweet Salvage ~ Part IV

You'll be Happy to know that I have numerous Posts worth of Beautiful Images that I will saturate the Land of Blog with for days on end for a while, just from my two days of Me Time at the Shops on 7th Avenue!  *Winks*   My Pathological Picture Taking was in hyperdrive, even tho' I've been really falling behind and ambivalent about so many other things lately.  *Smiles*  One of my Favorite Vignettes this Month at the 'Raw And Refined' Event at SWEET SALVAGE was this wonderful Space reminiscent of an Artist's Loft.

I've always had a Love Affair with my particular Vision of the Quintessential Painter's Loft Space... and this Vignette captured that Vision and Essence Beautifully.  Loads of fresh Flowers in Zinc and Enamelware Vintage Containers, Bright Colors, Weathered Garden Art, Brushes and Easels filled with unframed Art being Created... oh my!!!
Even though I do have the Privilege of having an Art Studio Cottage, it is not a Loft, nor does it have those rough exposed Old Brick walls, huge floor to ceiling windows to allow tons of Natural Sunlight to spill in, weathered Barnwood flooring, vaulted ceiling with Industrial Lighting illuminating every recessed corner, and huge French Doors opening up into a British Style Secret Garden that can blur the distinction from Inside and Out.  Okay, so yes, my Vision of the Quintessential Artist Loft and Studio Space is Grandoise and very Specific... but isn't that the Stuff Dreams are made of after all?

I've seen Publications featuring those Perfect Artist Spaces that I drew my Vision from... embellishing it all with heady doses of Imagination.   And it's Fun to find any Vignette reminiscent of that Picture I've painted on the Canvas of my Imagination over the Years.  I don't know that I shall ever have that exact replication of an Art Studio in my Lifetime or not, but I do know what it should look like. *Smiles*

My Family has often Wondered why the exposed Old Brick Wall would be so Important an Element to me when clearly I would probably just hang an Antique Persian Rug upon it!?!  *LOL*  And they're right, I probably would... but I still Love exposed Old Brick Walls... and any Building I go into that has them, is a slice of Heaven on Earth to me!!!

What Elements are representative of Heaven on Earth to you my Friends when you walk into a Space?   What Atmospheres make you absolutely Swoon?!?  Make you linger?  Make you want to replicate such a Space in your own World, with your own distinctive Spin on it of coarse?

Or... have you ever walked into a Space or seen one in Publication that you could just move right on into without changing a single thing?   Because it was just that Perfect and so very YOU even though someone else happened to Style it!?!

Whenever you are not the only one inhabiting a Space of coarse there must be some compromises to accommodate everyone else out of Respect and Consideration... but if you could be totally Selfish... what would THAT Space look like?  Feel like?  Smell like?  Embody?  What would be the very Essence of YOU in a Space if there were no boundaries and no limits to what could be procured to get it just right?

What little Details would be Important to you?  Even if nobody else cared or noticed?  If you had a Secret Private Space to retreat to, would it look very much like the Space you would Welcome Guests and Family into... or would it be over-the-top unbashedly the Stuff of Dreams even if not of Form and Function?  *Winks*   I have to Confess mine would look something like what one would find if they were to fall down the Rabbit Hole and into Alice In Wonderland's World... an Alice who was the Offspring of Morticia Addams had Gomez been Gypsy Royalty or the Twin Brother of Jimi Hendrix perhaps.  *Smiles*

Sure, I can Admire Traditionally Styled Spaces of any Genre too... but I would be most comfortable in Spaces that were Enchanting and Surreal, Spaces that looked like a Dreamscape come to Life.  Spaces where if a Unicorn were to trot by the window you wouldn't be at all surprised and it wouldn't look out of place or the least bit Unusual.  *Winks*

At times I haven't pulled back the reigns when I'm Styling my Personal Spaces and its raised some eyebrows to be sure.  *Winks*   And even when I feel I've Restrained myself, it's usually still quite Quirky to most folks since the Weird and the Wonderful have to co-exist with me for it to Feel like Home Sweet Home!

Yes, I do have some Raw and Natural Elements... and some Refinement too... but mostly and generally the more Unusual the better in my book... or in my Rooms.  *Smiles*   But I also Confess that if I owned several properties I'd probably Style each one completely different.  Depending on the location of each property there would probably be distinctively different Elements comprising the Atmosphere of it.   One on the Beach would quite obviously have that Beach Cottage Style... unless it was in Bora Bora... and then it might be more distinctively Polynesian Style.

A Cabin in the Woods would probably have loads of Nature blurring the distinction between being inside and being outside... and I don't know why, but a Rustic Retreat would definitely have more Hippie Elements thrown in were I to be Styling it... Commune Style I like to call it, getting back to the basics.

A Penthouse in the City... why definitely Art Nouveau would dominate that Space... or maybe a splash of Hollywood Regency Styling... where a Gabor Sister would feel quite comfortable coming for Tea.

I realize that I personally have many facets to my Styling Preferences and it would be Dreamy to get to Style many different spaces just to see what it all would look like when each came together?

And perhaps that is why I Enjoy these Events so much... especially the Occassional Sales where everything starts as a Blank Canvas every Month and then a New Theme comes together and Transforms each Stylist's Space into something directly from the Canvas of their Imaginations and incorporating what they have so carefully Sourced as Inventory to bring it all to Life for our Enjoyment and Shopping Pleasure!

The only thing I Enjoy more than seeing the Great Inventory other people Source... is the Thrill of the Hunt myself!   Turn me loose in a Junkyard and I've been Transported to Seventh Heaven, wading thru the Junk to find Rusty Gold.   Or visiting Op Shops and Tag Sales to see what other people's discarded Treasures can be Re-Found and Rescued!!!   Even combing the Beach, the Desert, Abandoned Spaces and Places is a total Rush to me!

And I Hope that at least for Today, during your Visit, you too were Transported to some Magical Place or Space on the Canvas of your own Imagination via the Images Shared?   There will be loads more, I Promise, because I have chosen to lose and loose myself into Photography to Soothe and Feed my Soul lately.   And then try to find the Words later that will come with each Post... be it Fluff, Imaginings or Personal Revelations Shared with Blog Friends.

I do so Enjoy your Visits, your Camaraderie and your Friendship here in the Land of Blog... even on days when my Crown is a little wonky and I'm not having such a Great Day... maybe even moreso on THOSE days actually!!!  *Winks*

Be sure to come back for MORE, because we've just scratched the surface... Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian

Raw And Refined ~ Sweet Salvage ~ Part III

I apologize for the delays in Blog Postings.  I haven't felt much like Blogging lately and I also needed to upgrade my storage space to handle my Pathological Picture Taking!  *LOL*  On a Personal Level a lot has been transpiring... some of it a Blessing, though with significant Conditions... and some of it a particular Challenge.  So Balancing all of that and staying Centered has been quite the Distraction lately, a Consuming one in fact!

My Girl's Days Out and time to myself, carved out of a demanding and full schedule, has been the Glue that has helped me maintain a Positive outlook and remain in a good Head Space.  But it has also meant that I have fallen behind in doing many of the things I usually Enjoy doing and either haven't had the Time or Energy for, or haven't even Felt like doing really.  Since Blogging is an extension of Artistic Expression for me, I'm either 'On' or 'Off' when it comes to doing it... and lately I've been more 'Off' than 'On'.

I've still thoroughly been up to my Photography, so I've got loads of Images from which to draw Blog Fodder.  But the Words have been difficult to come because of feeling quite Conflicted about possible Subject Matter... what to Share and what to just leave out of the Land of Blog and intentionally not reveal.

But in a way that's almost like not taking Calls from Friends, you know, because there's just Topics you don't want to discuss or to even come up because you're still in the midst of the Dealing with it all, and that's enough.  But everyone suspects something is 'Up' because you're not really yourself at the moment either... so it's like the Elephant in the room.  Maneuvering around an Elephant in the room or trying to ignore it can be quite tricky in daily Life.

And though certainly I could Intently Focus Upon just the Fluff of Life and all the Events, Gorgeous Images, Inspiration, Frivolous Pursuits and the like here in the Land of Blog, to the exclusion of any harsh or uncomfortable Realities going on simultaneously, because everyone Enjoys the Fluff, that can seem quite disingenuous to me... and thus, the Conflict within.

So it was probably timely that Blogger has been acting up... along with my storage space being full until I upgraded... at a time when I didn't really Feel much like being here anyway.  It was like getting a Pass to just neglect Blogging, even though a lot was going on and certainly enough to fill a multitude of Posts.  Lots of Lovely Images and Fun Stuff... balancing out the Heavy Issues of Life... and I just had to get to the place where I had a Peace about what to Post about... and NOT.

Even though this is an Online Journal and Life Journey for me... and I try to keep it 100% and Real... there is that Need To Know Factor... and determining what nobody really needs to know... and just keep those things to myself, however Heavy to carry.   I'm still very much on the fence about some Topics... though if we were to be sitting together in person over a glass of Wine, they might be more freely discussed because not every eye would see and every ear would hear.  *Smiles*

Feedback can be a dicey issue after all here in the Land of Blog... not every discussion, Topic and opinion lines up or is received Ideally.  And when you're 'Going Through' you can be in a raw, sensitive and vulnerable place... and even more easily wounded... so I just haven't wanted to 'Go There' and risk it, so to speak.

Even with the best of Intentions, Advice on anything or anyone that is deeply Personal and near and Dear to one's Heart is so sensitive a Topic to throw out there in the arena of cyberspace and what reaction it might prompt or how it will be received.  So I am still somewhat Guarded in order to remain Drama Free in my Sweet Happy Place here. *Smiles*  Even though I've got the Greatest Blog Supporters, I never know who else might show up or what could be said that might not be Positive nor Uplifting, or that I can be in Agreement with or amicably Agree to Disagree. *Winks*

So... for now I've chosen with Intent to Focus more on the Fluff in the fewer Posts that I'll be tackling... and see where it eventually takes me.  I Enjoy the Fluff of Life, I really do... because it can be so Uplifting and Carefree, even when Life comes at you full on and with intense force.   We're having Good Days amidst the Challenging ones... and even some days that are a mixture of both.  I suppose everyone can Relate to that at some level and with Empathy.  Who hasn't had a Bad Day after all!?!   And when raising Children or Caring for those with Infirmity who hasn't had those days bearing Bad News you'd rather not have to hear or Deal with?!?

So the Topic Theme at the Event... Raw And Refined, was rather timely as well for me... because lately our Lives have been an Interesting mixture of both... and blending that which is Raw with that which is Refined or you have to Re-Find is an Art of sorts too.   Whether you're just Decorating and Styling with both... or incorporating those Elements into every aspect of daily Living literally.  Embracing what is Raw and Refining it so that you can Live with it comfortably and use it advantageously takes practice.

I like to think that I've Cultivated that Ability over the Years and that I will continue to get better at it... necessity is after all the Mother of Invention.  And we will also continue... however slowly... to bring you along to what Raw and Refined Blending was done at this Month's Event.

Raw And Refined ~ Sweet Salvage ~ Part II

You've probably been Wondering why I've been MIA from the Land of Blog so much lately... and we'll get to all that in another Post.  Lets suffice to say for now that getting the Guardianship Issue Resolved thru CPS involvement has been quite Conditional and jumping thru all their Hoops quite exhausting and stressful for our entire Family... consuming much of our Time and Energies.

So Princess T and I desperately needed ANOTHER Girl's Day Out... so back to SWEET SALVAGE and our other Favorite Shops on 7th Avenue she and I went on Saturday to unwind.  While The Man and the Young Prince chose to unwind languishing in their beds watching TV, which is a Guy Thing I think, Testosterone Nap Therapy versus Estrogen Retail Therapy?!?  *LOL*   They Enjoy doing Nothing while we spend Money and Socialize... it's all Good and everyone's Happy!  *Winks*

Actually we didn't spend much Money since the Budget was shot to Hell this Month, but it wasn't really about spending anything... but more about having Quality Time with heady doses of Eye Candy, Inspiration and Visiting with Talented Good Friends.   And the Weather being absolutely Glorious made it Perfect to be out and about at Events and driving around with the windows down and the wind blowing in our hair.
"We should get a Convertible.", Princess T suggested as she saw a Sunglasses and Scarf clad Jackie O look-a-like pass by us in one.  "Yeah, that would be Great on a day like Today, huh?", I said.  I do miss my Vehicle that had a Sun Roof.  Back in the day my Parents used to own a Buick Electra 225 Convertible, Baby Blue with huge tail light Fins and White Leather interiors as big as a Livingroom Sofa... what a Barge that thing was!!!  I think it got five gallons to the Mile... not a Green Machine at all!  But who cared back when Gas was forty-nine cents a gallon?!?  *LOL*

But Convertibles aside, we still had a Glorious Girl's Day Out... though MY Socializing began to try Princess T's Patience since I tend to run into so many people I know when we're out and about.  *LOL*   She forgets that Gramma's Socializing is limited to the rare opportunities when I can get out of the house and Caregiver Mode, so my Friends don't get to see me that often and we have a lot to catch up on.

But, Princess T is a Good Sidekick to hang out with even though she's only Eight, because we Love and Enjoy the same things... we're two Peas from the same Pod, just spaced three Generations apart.  She too could spend all day Admiring Vignettes and Styling, engaging in the Thrill of the Hunt, Lusting after Bohemian Bling and Gypsy Wardrobe, and Talking and Doing anything Artsy and Avant Garde.

She looks forward to Attending some of the Events that Gramma makes Pilgrimages to... and though the shopping frenzy of Opening Day is too much for those of a Tender Age, the other three days of the Event have just the right amount of Energy and Zen to make it Enjoyable to bring the Family along. So I always try to make it back at least one more time with her... and her Brother when he doesn't have other Social Engagements... you know how Teenagers are, they have to fit you into their Schedule!!!  *LOL*  Not to mention I can usually get better quality Photos when it's not Opening Day and the crowds thin and become more orderly.

Princess T Enjoyed seeing Miss Heidi again... every budding Gypsy Couture Soul Loves PARIS MONTANA Style.   Heidi had Designed several of the Spring Line in Children's Sizes, including some of the Marion Antoinette Shirts.  I could definitely see Princess T Sporting one of those with the Bustle in the back!

Coming back also gave me the second Opportunity to re-photograph a few of my Favorite Statement Pieces that hadn't turned out on Opening Day... like this Fabulous Necklace!   But so many of the Pieces had quickly Sold Out, that most of the Inventory was Fresh for Day No. 3 of the Event.

I had to get at least one Image this time around of the Party in the Back of the PARIS MONTANA Marion Antoinette Shirts... Loved the ones with the Bustle, they were Sold Out by Day No. 2, so apparently I wasn't the only one that thought they were Fabulous and Fun Gypsy Couture!!!  The only one left was the one on Heidi's back!  *LOL*

The largest item at the Show that I was in total Lust with that went Home with someone else?  Why, this Vintage Commercial Filing Cabinet of coarse... it would have been the perfect dimensions for the Studio Cottage Makeover too.  *Le Sigh*

I absolutely Adored the Label Handles on the drawers.  In fact I absolutely Adored everything about this Piece.  I Hate it when you discover the Perfect Storage or Filing Piece that you've been searching high and low for and either Budget gets in the way of procuring it, or somebody else beat you to it!!!  *Insert Big Petulant Pout*  It's difficult to find this calibre of Found Treasures, you might never see another one.

"Well, at least you got Pictures of it Gramma...," Princess T tried to offer some Consoling words to me as I bid farewell to someone else's Perfect Storage and Filing Cabinet...
It always is SOME Solace to at least have Beautiful Images of the Treasures that got away and you couldn't bring Home!  *LOL*

And then she proceeded to make me Laugh out loud by Mimicking what I "Used to look like" typing away on my old manual Typewriters at Home and Work back in da Day!!!   How could I keep a straight face, she's so Spot On!!!   I think that may have even been one of the first Models I used... I'm officially well beyond "Vintage" myself by now you know?!?  *LMAO*

Here's Vintage Me on Day No. 2... with Princess T as my Photographer.

And Vintage Me on Day No. 1 in front of the Perfect Persian Rug I was seriously Jonesin' for and someone else got  *Le Sigh*... with my Friend Pamela as my Photographer.
I'm Guessing that everyone else must have gotten their Tax Refunds back already... and we've had such a Crazy Run that we haven't even scheduled our Appointment to get ours done yet.  Otherwise... maybe that Rug and that Vintage Commercial Filing Cabinet would have been MINE ALL MINE?!?  *Smiles*

But on our 2nd Visit I did come away with one small inexpensive Treasure... seen in this Image... can you tell which Loving Cup Trophy came Home to Bohemian Valhalla with me?  If you Guessed the Bronze one with the Cheerleader topper on the Left you'd be right, it was my single Purchase!   Yes, Exercising such Restraint after spending two Visits there was not easy, The Man was Proud of me! *LOL*

But I did come away with loads of Fresh Images of the Event to Share with you all here in the Land of Blog... so I do Hope you'll come back for the next few days... even though the Event ended Today, the Eye Candy Captured thru the Eye of my Lens will go on for several more Posts to Delight you all.

I fell in Love with this Lady Pheasant Mount, you don't see the Females too often in Taxidermy since they're not as Flambouyant as the Males.
I thought she was really Cute though... and would look Darling all Pimped Out Gypsy Style, dontcha think?  *Winks*

And yes, her Flambouyant Boyfriend was there too in case you needed a matched Pair... though the Male Pheasant Boyfriend I had for her at Home in Bohemian Valhalla is Cuter... just saying... since I'm totally biased about my own Taxidermy Critters being the Cutest!  *Winks*
